Art Workshop at Sanfield

This Saturday, five of us went to Sanfield with paint, brushes, and canvases for an art session with the elderly residents. The aim was to encourage creativity and self-expression, but the experience became so much more meaningful.

As we painted together, many residents opened up about their pasts, some reminisced about when they used to paint or knit but felt they weren’t “as good” anymore. It was touching yet bittersweet to hear their stories, and we reminded them that creativity isn’t about perfection but about joy and expression.

The highlight was when one resident painted Ann’s favourite teddy bear, the one she always holds. Her smile lit the room and everyone was moved by how art sparked such warmth and hapiness.

Overall, it was a warm, relaxing afternoon that reminded us why we started Generation Connect: to connect and create together.
